(1) blogs by individual librarians, and
(2) blogs about a library, written by one or more staff/librarians
This overview will focus on the 2nd kind of library blog -- blogs about libraries. These blogs usually serve as a tool to make announcements about new programs, services or upcoming events.
Library Weblogs has a pretty good list of library-related blogs. If you click on "United States" and scroll to the blogs starting with "L" you'll see a lot of great news sources for U.S. librarians. A couple specific examples of libraries using blogs are:
Minneapolis Public LibraryTheir blog is so well integrated into their website, you don't even realize you're looking at a blog until you see the little RSS icon at the bottom. This is a great illustration of using a blog feed to promote events.
Ohio University LibrariesThis looks more like the traditional blog format, with dates, tags, comments, and a sidebar. The blog posts are a good mix of events, announcements, and general news.
Blog Without a Library

Blogging Libraries WikiAn excellent place to find all kinds of examples of libraries using blogs. Categories include academic, public, school, and even internal use blogs!
